What is the difference between Antigen Testing and RT PCR Testing?


Antigen Testing detects the presence of Covid-19 in the sample from a patient; similar to RT-PCR. It is mostly valid for domestic travel and hotel accommodation requirements. Since this test requires a simple yet accurate procedure, test results will be available after an hour. 


RT PCR is the golden standard in Covid-19 testing. This test detects even a trace amount of Covid-19 antigen in a specimen. Sample specimen from the patients are only processed and conducted through the network of DOH accredited laboratories in the Philippines. Results are given to the patients within the day or may take up to a week.
